Work It Wednesday: How I Get Ready for an Interview
I’ve been to a few interviews in my lifetime, and first impressions are everything. Our goal is to make the best possible impression by being prepared, speaking with confidence, and appearing polished.
I still remember my first interview – It was terrible! I made all the classic mistakes! I was nervous, unprepared, and showed up in red lipstick! Bright beautiful red lipstick! If you need some tips for how to dress for an interview, take a look at last weeks post titled “How to Dress for an interview” (I’ve linked it here).
If you are a visual learner like myself, join me, as I get ready for a big interview! This video is centered on how I do my makeup for a big interview.
I usually go for a casual day look. In this video, I use concealer and powder as my base and spray with a make-up setter.
I like using make-up setter so that my makeup appears natural, and if I’m nervous, I won’t sweat it off.
I do a very simple eye look. I keep the eyes neutral creating an almond shape with shadow, eyeliner, and a coat of plumping mascara.
Finally I top my lips off with a muted plum color. I advise using a color similar to your natural lip shade. For interviews, your makeup should look simple and soft.
At the end of the video, you will see an example of how I dress and wear my hair. If you can wear your hair up and out of your face, you will have completed your look. However, you can also opt for straight, sleek hair for a more feminine touch.
