Thursday Temptation: Green Tea

Every girl wants that fresh, tight, glowing looking skin when taking those pictures with friends and family. Some girls will pack their face with tons of makeup to achieve that "soft" look, in hopes that their blemishes won't show through. The best "soft" look is one that you can achieve without makeup. Thankfully this secret is very affordable: Green Tea! Yes, the good old Green Tea can benefit your body and skin in so many ways.

According to research scientist Christopher Ochner, PhD, Green Tea is packed with Catechins, which are antioxidants, that can help fight and prevent cell damage. These antioxidants  can also lower cholesterol, improve blood flow, help prevent high blood pressure and congestive heart failure. Green tea also aides in weight loss. Ochner states " all things equal, if you substitute 1-2 cups of green tea for one can of soda, over the next year, you'd save over 50,000 calories," which comes out to be more than 15 pounds (just don't kill it with honey and sugar)! Another great thing about green tea is that after a few weeks of drinking it, it helps improve your memory. Being a college student, this is very beneficial to me.

Green tea can also be used to create wonderful skin treatments. The antioxidants in green tea has been used by many people to treat acne, achieving brighter and flawless skin. There are a few treatments you can perform with green tea that don't cost much at all.

Our Best Green Tea Facial Treatments:

  1. Green Tea Paste- After you drink your green tea, take out the teabag and cut it open, emptying it into a small cup. Add a little bit of honey to the tea leaves and mix it into a paste. With your face freshly clean, apply the paste and leave it on for ten minutes. Rinse it off and pat dry.
  2. Green Tea Cleanser: Soak the green teabag in super hot water, cut open the bag and empty into a small cup. Grab your facial cleanser (using a creamy textured cleanser will work best, such as Clearasil or Noxzema, so that the tea will blend better) and add about 2 tablespoons of it into the small cup and mix. Spread mix all over your face, leave it on for 5 minutes and then rinse it off.
  3. Green Tea Toner: Make your regular pot of green tea, allowing the teabag to fully infuse, and let cool down. Pour the tea into a clean container with a lid. Grab a cotton ball, dip it into the green tea and rub it all over your face twice a day. Store the remainder of the tea in a dark, cool place for future use. This treatment adds moisture and unclogs pores.

You can find these and other treatments online. These are the fastest and easiest facial treatments we enjoyed. Please let us know if you try any of these or how you have benefitted from drinking green tea.

Have a great Thursday and check back next week to satisfy your Thursday Temptation!
